Vikramjit Singh Sahney of India took over Saarc CCI Presidency in New Delhi for the term 2012-2013 after completion of two years term of Annisul Haque of Bangladesh, Deputy Secretary General Saarc CCI Zulfiqar Butt said here on Tuesday.
He said the farmer Saarc CCI president Tariq Sayeed and Vice president Iftikhar Malik who attended the succession ceremony of Saarc CCI Presidency congratulated Sahney on assuming the office of Saarc Chamber of Commerce and Industry presidency, who expressed a firm commitment to continue the mission of his predecessors to foster economic co-operation in the region.
Vikramjit Sahney also presided over the 54th executive committee meeting of Saarc CCI, which was attended by newly elected executive committee members of Saarc CCI for the year 2012-13. He said diplomats and leading businessmen from all over the region attended the handing over-taking over ceremony. Over 70-member delegation from Pakistan attended the Saarc CCI presidency.
Butt said the succession ceremony of Saarc CCI presidency coincided with the Saarc Business Summit: building bridges in south Asia through economic co-operation, which took place in New Delhi on Monday. The Indian Minister for Commerce, Industry and Textiles, Anand Sharma addressed the summit organised by Saarc CCI and FICCI. The inaugural session was followed by session on human resource development in South Asia.
