Reap, USDA meeting on January 27

Published Updated

Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (Reap) is organising a special meeting with the representatives of United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) on January 27 in its zonal office at Karachi to get an understanding of the protocols/procedures being followed by the US Authorities for the implementation of Draft Work Plan for the export of rice to the United States.
Reap Chairman Javed Islam Agha told Business Recorder here on Tuesday that the meeting has been convened to understand the protocols and method of rejection of consignments by the US Authorities. He said that their members exporting rice to the United States had some issues in the past owing to rejection of their consignments due to 'Khapra Beetle.' Agha stated that realising the difficulties of its members exporting rice to the US, Reap had arranged the meeting for education of its members about the protocols being followed by the United States on the issue.
