Opposition in Punjab Assembly staged a walk out immediately after the start of the session on Monday. They pointed out quorum in protest against bad governance of Punjab Chief Minister which claimed at least 26 precious lives in Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC). Members of the Punjab Assembly belonging to PML (Q) and PPP stood up and started shouting slogans against Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif.
They alleged that the Speaker on behalf of the provincial government had given them the assurance that he would get them development funds till next session. They deplored that the Chief Minister had caused embarrassment for the Speaker as well because they were not given any funds so far. Following protest from the opposition benches, the Speaker sought 10 minutes from them and went back to his chamber for having dialogue with the CM. After 10 minutes he again chaired the proceedings and informed the opposition that the issue of their development funds would be resolved in the Tuesday's morning meeting.
Afterwards, the joint opposition took up the issue of 26 patients died in PIC due to spurious drugs. They conveyed the speaker for offering Fatiha for the deceased. They raised slogans against the Chief Minister "Khadim-e-Ala, Qatil-e-Ala" (the biggest servant is the biggest killer). After offering for Fatiha for the PIC deceased, the opposition demanded of the Chair for holding debate on it but Speaker insisted for continuing with the routine proceedings. Afterwards, the joint opposition staged walk out from the proceedings against the deaths of innocent people. PPP's Sheheryar Khan pointed out quorum and at that time there were only 40 treasury members present in the House.
Following lack of quorum, the Speaker announced break for half an hour to meet the quorum but even after half an hour, there were only 22 members in the House. Finally the Speaker announced to prorogue the assembly proceedings.
