AVCC-CPLC raid: alleged kidnappers held; two persons recovered

Anti Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) and Citizens Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) on Saturday claimed to have arrested two alleged kidnappers and recovered two persons including 30 months old body in captivity, in a joint raid. This was stated by CPLC chief Ahmed Chinoy and AVCC chief SP Ghulam Subhani at a press conference held at CPLC office, on Saturday.
They said the minor boy namely Mohammad Rashid son of Hameed Hussain was recovered during raid at slum area near Singer Chowrangi, Korangi. Moreover they said he was kidnapped from his residence located in Korangi on January 16 and the kidnappers demanded a ransom of Rs 0.15 million for his release and also threatened the family to sell him at Rs 1 million if they failed to pay the ransom.
On being contacted by the family, a joint investigation team of CPLC and AVCC was formed that identified the hideout of the culprits after strict vigilance. They said the team during raid had arrested two kidnappers namely Noor Hakeem and Abdul Shakoor with two TT pistols and recovered a minor boy from their possession.
In the same way, a young man Ali Asim, 35 was freed from the captivity of the kidnappers without ransom. They said the kidnappers had been forced to release him as the team had conducted several raids for their arrests. They said Asim, who used to run his own construction business, was kidnapped on December 21 in Sharafi Goth police remits and the kidnappers demanded Rs 20 million for his release. The officials said the captive, who was sent to interior Sindh till the finalisation of ransom deal, was released as the CPLC and AVCC jointly made several raids at several places that compelled the kidnappers to release him without ransom to avoid arrest.
