Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Salman Siddique attended his last meeting of the Economic Co-ordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet on Friday and left for Lahore after relinquishing his charge as head of the FBR. Talking to Business Recorder here on Friday, Siddiqui said that Saturday (today) is his last working day as FBR Chairman.
As per government rules, if the last working is a holiday, then the day prior to that becomes the last working day. Thus, Friday (January 20) was my last working day as government official and I stand retired from government service. "I have already cleared all the pending files and routine letters/representations and left the FBR after fulfilment of all legal formalities required under the law. I have also attended the meeting of the ECC on Friday (yesterday) - my last working day at FBR," he added. I have already made clear that I have not made any request to the government for extension as FBR chairman and repeatedly clarified that I want to leave the institution with dignity and honour after retirement, Siddiqui added.
