The Karachi Port handled 96,078 tonnes of cargo comprising 68,540 tonnes of import cargo and 27,538 tonnes of export cargo including 4,093 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 68,540 tonnes comprised of 30,895 tonnes of containerised cargo; 14,297 tonnes of general cargo; 15,708 tonnes of bulk cargo and 7,640 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 27,538 tonnes comprised of 16,264 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,936 tonnes of general cargo and 8,338 tonnes of bulk cargo. Five ships namely APL Brisbane, Kota Carum, Star Cosmo, SC Tianjin and Vine-2 with two container ships, one coal carrier, one oil tanker and one cement carrier respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Eleven vessels viz Emirates Kabir, YM Fuzhou, Tabea, Positano, Jin Rong, Valpolicella, Ras Ghumays-1, Navig 8 Loucas, Lodestar Genesis, Warnow Moon and Anna Dorothea carrying four container ship, three bulk cargo ships, two oil tankers and two general cargo ships respectively are currently at the berths.
Four ships namely Emirates Kabir, Tabea, Zhen Hua 10 and Anna Dorothea with two container ships and two general cargo ships respectively sailed out to sea on Friday, while four ships namely Lodestar Genesis, Warnow Moon, Navig 8 Loucas and Valpolicella with two general cargo ships and one oil tanker and one bulk cargo ship respectively are expected to sail on Saturday.
Two vessels viz Al-Manakh and UBC Cyprus carrying one container ship and one cement carrier respectively due to arrive on Friday, while three vessels viz Viona, Formosa Product and MT Quetta carrying one container ship, one naphtha ship and one crude oil tanker respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
A total number of eight vessels CV Safmarine Nagami, CV Nexo Maersk, CV New Delhi Express, MV Leopard-B, MV LA Paloma, MT Siva Coral, MT Al-Salam-II and MV Pine Galaxy are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice, chemicals, diesel oil and edible oil respectively during last 24 hours.
As many as seven ships namely MSC Jade, Akaki, Fair Spirit, Bunga Angsana, Al-Soor-II, Pacific Friend and Ataman with one container ship, two furnace oil tankers, one edible oil tanker, One diesel tanker, one steel coils carrier and one seeds carrier are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
A total number of four vessels viz CV MSC Jade, Bunga Angsana, Pacific Friend and Ataman carrying containers, edible oil, steel coils and seeds are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal, Grain & Fertiliser Terminal (FAP) and Multi Purpose Terminal (MW3) respectively on Friday.
