Lahore General Hospital (LGH) administration has finalised plan to deal with the possible spread of dengue fever this year, said Professor Dr Tariq Salahuddin, Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute and Lahore General Hospital. According to the plan, the hospital would provide all kinds of diagnostic and treatment facilities to the dengue patients under one roof.
He was presiding over a high level meeting of LGH administration on Wednesday, disclosed a LGH's spokesperson. Senior professors, MS, principal nursing school, nursing superintendent and administrative doctors attended the meeting. He said that the hospital administration was to establish four more High Dependency Units where serious patients of dengue virus would be given all kinds of medical aid immediately under a comprehensive system equipped with modern machinery and highly professional staff.
"Dengue experts of PGMI, including Professor Dr Shuaib Randhawa, Professor Ghayyas-un-Nabi Tayyab, Professor Jawad Zaheer, Professor Agha Shabbir and other doctors were readily available to provide training facilities to doctors, nurses and paramedics belonging to any medical college and hospital of the province," he added.
He asked the heads of various departments to submit their recommendations regarding curbing of dengue virus in the light of their previous experience within one week. He also directed the MS to ensure before the summer season that the air-conditioners installed in all the wards were functional. He also stressed the nursing staff to keep the data about every patient up-to-date and in case of negligence, the responsible would not be spared. Dr Salahuddin said the relevant staff must keep the hospital clean and hygienic at all times. He emphasised to regularly hold training workshops and seminars in order to create awareness among the masses about dengue virus.
