The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is taking all possible steps to make the electoral process more effective for ensuring free, fair and credible elections. This was stated by Secretary ECP Ishtiak Ahmed here on Tuesday.
"In order to enhance trust of the stakeholders, an open and transparent approach on part of the ECP is, therefore, essential to give all the stakeholders ie, the political parties, civil society, and media, a feeling of inclusiveness in the electoral process," he added.
Ishtiak Ahmad said that the ECP had already held four consultative meetings, wherein a number of important electoral issues were discussed. He added that the ECP was holding another consultative meeting with all the stakeholders on January 23, in which a detailed presentation would be given to the participants with a view to sharing vital tasks to be completed before next general elections and to elicit their valuable views on some developments taking place so that all the stakeholders were on board.
