Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration has intensified anti-profiteering drive in Islamabad to ensure the availability of food items at the control rate. In this regard, Assistant Commissioner (Secretariat) Islamabad, Nauman Yousuf conducted surprise price checking and inspection of hotels and bakeries in the area of Secretariat sub-division and imposed heavy fines on 22 profiteers for not displaying the rate list of fruit and vegetables.
He fined four hotels and two bakeries for not observing the hygiene and sanitation rules. He imposed fine amounting to Rs 18,000 on 22 profiteers for over charging and not displaying the rate list of food items including fruit and vegetables. He issued on the spot directions to the violators to improve the sanitary conditions immediately and ensure the quality of food items failing which stern action would be taken against the defaulters. Nauman Yousuf told that price checking drive and inspection of hotels and bakeries has been launched to ensure the implementation of rate list of food items and check the profiteering tendency to redress the complaints of consumers.
