There is bright scope for surgical instruments in Hungary: envoy

Ambassador of Hungary to Pakistan Istvan Darvasi has said that there is bright scope for Pakistani products especially surgical instruments in Hungary. Addressing the members of Surgical instruments Manufa-cturers Association of Pakistan (SIMAP) at Allama Iqbal hall on Tuesday, he urged the businessmen engaged with surgical industry that they should study the market of Hungary and assess the demand of surgical instruments there.
Pakistan enjoyed a special repute in producing a wide range of high quality surgical instruments, which were used across the world and there was a great demand of Pakistani surgical instruments in Hungary market as well, he added.
The ambassador assured the members that adequate efforts would be made for motivating the business community of his country (Hungary) to visit Sialkot and witness the craftsmanship and quality of surgical instruments being manufactured in the area. The visit of businessmen would provide an opportunity to the businessmen of Pakistan and Hungary in developing direct interaction, which would surely pave the way for further accelerating the pace of bilateral trade between the two countries.
The ambassador on this occasion lauded the role of business community of Sialkot for construction of international airport, Sialkot Dry Port and improvement of infrastructure of the city on self-help basis. In his address of welcome, Chairman SIMAP Jehangeer Bajwa said that about 3000 small and medium surgical units are functioning in and around Sialkot, which are providing employment opportunities to 500,000 industrial workers.
Sialkot through its exports earning US 1.25 billion dollars out of which the share surgical industry is US 250 million dollars, he disclosed. He added that Hungary had great potential for surgical and dental instruments but unfortunately they had very low share 0.10 percent due to the role of mediators. Underscoring the need of arranging a delegation of major importers of Hungary to visit surgical industry of Sialkot which would definitely help reduce the role of mediators and support in increasing the volume of exports, he added.
