The Lahore High Court here Monday decided to issue notice to PPP Senator Babar Awan through a press advertisement as court notices could not be served on him so far. Earlier, a court official informed the court that notices could not be delivered at the addresses of Babar Awan as his both offices in Islamabad and Lahore were found closed.
The court therefore directed the office to summon Babar Awan on February 6 through a press advertisement. On the previous hearing, the court directed senior civil judges of Lahore and Islamabad to convey court's summons to respondent, Awan, in connection with a contempt of court petition against him.
Petitioner Afaq Ahmad, a bar member, contended that Awan had been frequently ridiculing Supreme Court. The petitioner therefore prayed to the court to bar senator Babar Awan from issuing any statement on sub-judice matters and initiate contempt of court proceedings against him.
