Power generation crosses 9000 megawatts

Published Updated

Power generation has crossed 9,000MW against 6,000MW last week, enabling the power authorities to stop forced closures for majority of consumers in the country. Ejaz Rafique Qureshi, Director General Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco), told Business Recorder that situation would be improved marginally once the generation reaches 10,000MW.
According to him, supply of furnace oil to generation companies was satisfactory, resulting into high thermal generation. However, there was very negligible gas supply to a few power companies in the vicinity of Uch Sharif. So far as hydel is concerned, he said, canal closure has brought hydel generation to the ebb. He said a constant effort is being made by the Pepco to continue with exemption to the textile industry. But still a few lacks were occurring, causing troublesome situation for industry.
