People suffering from any psychiatric disorder should not be looked down upon, as these problems were curable like other disease. This was stated by leading psychiatrists at a 'Public awareness seminar on Psychiatry' organised by Institute of Behavioural Sciences, Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) at its Ojha Campus.
The aim of the seminar was to provide better awareness regarding mental health illnesses with the modern developments. It was attended by Professor Masood Hameed Khan, Vice Chancellor-DUHS, Professor Umer Farooq, Pro-Vice Chancellor-DUHS. Senator Haseeb Khan, senior professors, doctors and para-medical staff.
The seminar was followed by free psychiatry camp in which more than 250 patients got their checkup. In a telephonic speech, Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan stressed the need to strengthen the psychiatry speciality. Dr Raza-Ur-Rehman, Associate Professor of Psychiatry, DMC/CHK in his address said that psychiatry is the medical speciality devoted to the study and treatment of mental disorders.-PR
