At least five persons including a woman were killed in separate incidents at various parts of the metropolis here on Thursday. According to police and rescue sources, a teenage girl was fallen victim to stray bullet at the slum area of Shahzad Moor in the jurisdiction of Pirabad police station.
Police said the victim, who was identified as Zahra, 17, daughter of Dawood Khan and a resident of sector 1-D Orangi Town, was hit by a stray bullet when she was sitting in her house. The inhabitants of the area shifted her to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where she succumbed to her injuries. They said the victim was unmarried and a housemaid by her profession and added that her family took her body away without any legal formalities.
Meanwhile, at least two rickshaw drivers were killed in different parts of Al-Falah police remits. The rickshaw driver namely Muhammad Haroon Baloch was killed at Malir Shamsi Society when he was sitting in his Rickshaw. The body was shifted to JPMC for medico legal formalities. He was the resident of Siddique Goth, Malir and a father of two. Similarly, Ghulam Rasool, who was also a rickshaw driver by his profession, was also targeted in the same area.
Police were still unable to ascertain the cause of murders while angry mob staged sit-in protest at National Highway that led to create severe gridlock for hours. A scrap dealer was shot dead in his shop located in Zafar Town Bin Qasim in the jurisdiction of Shah Latif police station. The incident took place at street No 14 Zafar Town, where 32-year-old Moraiz Khan, son of Abdul Khaliq Mehsud was targeted. Resultantly he received fatal bullet wounds and died on the spot. The body was shifted to JPMC. SHO Amanullah Marwat said the victim, who was the resident of Quaidabad and used to run a scrap shop, might have been killed over personal enmity. Later police handed over his body to the heirs. No case was registered till filing of this report.
A bullet-riddled body of a man was found near Naval Flats Lyari in the limits of Kalri police station. The identity of victim was yet to be ascertained. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico legal formalities. Later the body was moved to Edhi Morgue for identification. A case was registered against unidentified men.
