Growers advised to irrigate wheat crop

Growers should irrigate the wheat crop, which has grown leafs as per requirement, the met office advised. "Wheat crop is in third leaf/tiller development stage in the agriculture plains of the country. Farmers should irrigate the early sown crops as per requirement," the office said in its 10-dayadvisory for farmers.
It says mainly dry weather is expected in most parts of the country during the 10 days from January 11 to January 20, 2011. However, moderate to dense fog in the plain areas of the country, including Gujranwala, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Multan and Bahawalpur, Peshawar, Charsada and Swabi are expected to remain in the morning hours.
It says isolated light to moderate rain/light snowfall over the hills of Potohar region, Gujranwala, Sargodha and Lahore divisions, in the agricultural plains of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan on January 14 and January 15. However, isolated light to moderate rain/light snowfall over the hills may occur in Quetta, Kalat and Zhob divisions on January 12 and January 13. Weather in Sindh is expected to remain cold and dry.
The Met Office forecast day temperature is likely to remain normal in the country. However night temperature is expected to be 2-3 degree centigrade below normal in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and north Balochistan. "Normal wind pattern is likely in most parts of the country. However gusty winds are likely in Upper Punjab, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and northern Balochistan during January 13 and January 15," the advisory says.
