Decision to establish dry-port appreciated

Punjab Industrial Estates Chairman, S.M Tanveer has appreciated the decision to establish a new dry-port on the basis of public-private partnership at Prem Nagar near Raiwind. PIE chairman in a statement on Thursday said that the dry-port would be beneficial not only for Sundar Industrial Estate but also for the industries around the area.
With the investment of Rs 6.1 billion rupees, the port is expected to generate revenues of up to one billion rupees per year. "I am expecting more jobs at new dry port as well," he said. Tanveer said that the dry-port will support export-oriented industries around Prem Nagar area. A complete infrastructure including terminal service and custom clearance will support transportation of products in and outside the country, he pointed out. "I am sure prices of products will decrease after establishment of dry port," he added.
