Ensuring two-day gas supply: Piaf urges government to fulfil commitment
Pakistan Industrial and Traders Association Front (Piaf) has urged the government to fulfil its commitment with the business community and ensure two-day gas supply to the Punjab.
Chairman Lahore Township Industries Association Iftikhar Bashir Chaudhry and Chairman Auto Parts Manufacturers and Exporters Association Tahir Javed Malik, in a statement on Thursday said that it was very unfortunate that the despite an assurance by the Governor Punjab to the presidents of all the Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Punjab and Chairmen of trade and industrial associations gas supply could not be restored.
They said that gas load shedding has pushed industry to the wall, which is already facing huge difficulties like electricity shortage, high input cost and high mark-up etc but government was playing the role of silent spectator. The industry is already facing unannounced prolonged electricity load shedding that has already crippled the industrial activities while closure of gas putting more fuel to the fire. At the moment when the industrial production was at its lowest ebb, and the business community was facing difficulties in dealing with banks, the gas load shedding was crushing them, they added.
