Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan said that his party will not hold talks with N-League, however, they are open for a discussion with all other parties. He also announced that the PTI would stand by the judiciary and come out on roads on January 16 if the court was ambushed.
He expressed these views while addressing a press conference here on Thursday. He said twice they were ditched by Nawaz Sharif and thus they have lost trust in him (Nawaz). He observed that the N-League is responsible for the present crisis in the country; it always sided with the government on the pretext of saving the system. "If the N-League is serious about his stance against the government then it should resign from the assemblies," he added.
About martial law, Khan said the PTI stands by democracy and constitution; it would not support military coup in the country or tolerate unconstitutional steps. He observed that a major change has taken place in the country; the people are politically well aware and they only demand democracy and are against military dictatorship. "After General Musharraf's rule, a consensus has developed among the political forces that military rule is no answer to our prevailing problems," he added.
While blaming the government for the prevailing crisis, he said the rulers have damaged democracy by clashing with the judiciary. He pointed out that free and fair elections is only way out from the prevailing predicament. "The system will not derail, instead it will get more strength if the present government goes and fair and transparent elections are held," he added.
When asked about a possibility of All Parties Conference on recent political tumultuous situation, the PTI chief said the government has run short of the time to call an APC; it just has to act upon the court orders. "The decisions of the Supreme Court must be accepted in a democratic set-up," he added. To another question, he said fresh elections should be held under a caretaker setup, it is not possible under President Asif Ali Zardari, as his impartiality is doubtful. He also maintained that the PTI would not be part of the caretaker government.
He reiterated that the 'plunderers' were protected through NRO. He said the country is being plundered in the name of democracy. He held Zardari responsible for the corruption in the country and added that if they are clean then they should write a letter to the Swiss government for reopening of cases.
Later a ceremony was held in which ex-provincial minister Abdul Aleem Khan along with his companions announced to join PTI. While addressing the ceremony, Khan has said looters of national exchequer were trying to discredit the Supreme Court of Pakistan but every worker of PTI is standing behind Chief Justice. "Now there is a different Pakistan and people are ready to bring positive change in the country where new social order would be introduced," he added.
