Supreme Court restores Humayun Kurd as MNA

Published Updated

While suspending the verdict of Election Tribunal Quetta, the Supreme Court restored Mir Humayun Aziz Kurd as member National Assembly on Wednesday. PML-Q leader and member of Balochistan Assembly Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind had challenged Kurd's victory in the Election Tribunal with the plea that he won the election of National Assembly, as thousands of bogus votes were polled in his favour.
Resultantly, the Election Tribunal Quetta disqualified member National Assembly and leader of PPP Humayun Kurd from Balochistan and ordered re-election on NA-267 Kachhi-cum-Jhal Magsi. Athar Minhallah counsel for Aziz Kurd challenged the Tribunal verdict in the SC where a three-member bench of Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani restored Kurd membership of National Assembly. The hearing was adjourned for indefinite period.
