Supreme Court Bar Association former president Asma Jahangir on Wednesday said that if judges wanted to do politics, they should contest elections. Talking to media persons in Lahore High Court, Asma said parliament was supreme in the country not judiciary. Answering to a query, she said the government should implement the SC judgments.
However, the judiciary should not consider itself as all knowledgeable, she added. She said the judiciary always approved military rules in the past. Asma while pointing out annulment of parliamentary committee's decisions on judges' appointment, said the judiciary also disregarded the decisions of the parliament. She regretted that the state institutions were being politicised. "If Supreme Court will do all then what others will do," she added. She maintained that all would obey SC decisions if it stayed away from politics.
