The residents of Chilas city and surrounding areas continued to block the Karakoram Highway at a number of points to press the government to accept their demands in response to the killing of a person belonging to the city. The protestors demanded of the government to make sure that their demands were met which they had presented before the Chief Minister Syed Mehdi Shah.
When contacted, District Magistrate Sibtain Ahmed told newsmen that so far the protestors could not be brought to terms. He said the administration had involved the political figures, notables, Ulemas and Numberdars to resolve the issue. Meanwhile, traffic between Gilgit and rest of the country remained suspended even on forth day and all the transport companies had stopped their services.
Gilgit city was facing a shortage of edibles, medicines and other commodities as the trucks carrying goods could not reach the city. Meanwhile, on the directives of the CM Syed Mehdi Shah, Health Minister Gulbar Khan and Works Minister Bashir Ahmed had reached Chilas city to hold dialogues with the protestors.
