The unending jurisdiction war between police stations, which always victimizes the citizens, has now become inglorious for police department and rescuers as a cop and a worker of one of the rescue organisations were caught red-handed while throwing a bullet-riddled body in the limits of Gizri police station on Wednesday.
According to police sources, the police patrolling party of Gizri arrested ASI Idress deployed in Korangi police station and a rescuer Adnan when they were throwing a body in Gizri limits to avoid investigation. They said that these accused persons tried to transfer the case in Gizri limits illegally through this illicit activity, albeit the body, which was identified as Sakawat Hussain son of Nazar Hussain, was found in the precincts of Korangi Industrial Area police.
They said the accused Idress, who was directed to transport the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for post-mortem in ambulance, tried to throw the same with the assistance of rescuer at Gizri limits (Defence Khayaban-e-Abbas). They said the accused rescuer during initial course of investigation revealed that the said policeman had offered Rs 5000 for providing assistance to him in this illegal job.
They said the case (11/12) was registered by Gizri police against both persons under section 297 of Pakistan Penal Code. Meanwhile, SHO Korangi Industrial Area, who refused to comment on this issue, informed this scribe that the victim was the resident of Qayyumabad and might have been murdered by his fiancé's beau. He said the case (23/12) in this regard was registered and investigation was underway to take responsible to task.
