A British delegation comprising eight members called on Federal Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh here on Wednesday and discussed the trade opportunities between the two countries. The delegation included Lord Green, Minister of State for Trade and Investment, R.T. Hon Barouness Warsi Minister for Cabinet and Chairperson of Conservative Party and others.
Hafeez Shaikh said on the occasion that the government has taken steps to increase tax net and to reduce the poverty in the country. He told the delegation that economic indicators in the country were improving. He further said that with the increase in tax net, the government would be able to finance big development projects in the country. The Finance Minister said that the trade relations between the two countries were old and strong and Pakistan had always provided best opportunities to the UK businessmen. The delegation appreciated the co-operation provided by the Pakistan government.
