Two unidentified assailants shot dead a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader, Jamshed Chadhar in Jhang, late on Saturday. Chadhar, a prominent businessman and member of Jhang Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was entering a mosque to offer night prayers when two assailants on a bike opened fire at him, killing him on the spot. Station House Officer of Kotwalia police station, Malik Khizer Hayat said that the motive of the attack could not be ascertained.
The body was shifted to Civil Hospital where a large crowd had gathered. SHO Hayat said that Chadhar's family had yet to register a First Information Report, as they were waiting for the deceased's brother, Gul Shair Chadhar to return from Lahore, who would register a case after consultations. Gul Shair, also a PML-N member, was former party president of District Jhang. District Police Officer, Rao Abdul Karim, who had reached the hospital along with a police squad, said, "It would be premature to say anything about this murder, it might by an enmity, business rivalry or sectarian strife. Locals said that Chadhar did not have a personal enmity with anyone.
