There is a plan to recruit 14,000 more teachers soon. This was stated by the Sindh Minister of Education, Pir Mazhar ul Haq. He said here on Sunday that 14,000 teachers have already been hired on the basis of merit whereas 14,000 more teachers would also be inducted soon. The Minister said that this would help activate the remaining closed schools in the province.
He said that the assistance from the World Bank, the European Union and the USAID enabled in the resumption of the academic activities in the shut schools as well as in the recruitment of able and competent teachers. Pir Mazhar pointed out that with the joint efforts of the USAID and the Department of Education, teachers training programme has been initiated in two of the districts in the province. He said that in the coming year this programme will also be started in nine more districts. The Minister informed that the Sindh Teachers Education Development Authority has also been established.
