Gas closure for industries: 16 trade bodies to participate in LCCI-backed sit-in today

As many as 16 city trade and industrial associations have announced to participate in the LCCI-backed sit-in against gas closure to the industry in Punjab, scheduled for Saturday.
PIAF Chairman Sohail Lashari said that Chairman of Lahore Township Industrial Association Iftikhar Bashir Chaudhry, Arif Qasim of Ghee Industry, Fida Hussain and Haroon Shaifique of Food Processing Industry, Adnan Butt and Shahid Baig of Ferozepur Road Industrial Area, Mehmood Gaznvi of Katarbund Road Association, Mehmood Akhtar of Kanha Kacha Industrial area, Textile Printing and Processing Association, Khalid Pervaiz Anjuman-e-Tajiran Urdu Bazaar Khamis Seed Butt and Samiullah Butt of Paper Market, Mohammad Ashraf Bhatti of Anar Kali Baber Mehmood and Shabbir Labah of Hall Road, Hamid Riaz and Raees Sheikh of Mall Road, Waqar Ahmed and Sohail Azhar of Badami Bagh, Mohammad Munir, Mohammad Rafique and Mubashir Sheikh of Shah Alam Market, Mohammad Irfan from Liberty Market, Mehbbob Ali Sirki and Athar Ali Kazmi from Ferozepur Road, Ghulam Sarwar and Nasrullah Qadari from McLeod Road have assured their full support for LCCI sit-in.
He said that closure of supply of gas to the industry in Punjab is a conspiracy against the entire country and its economy but the rulers are playing the role of silent spectator. He said that if the government fails to take any sort of corrective measures, the traders and industrialists would be asked to stage a protest in Islamabad in front of Parliament.
Sohail said that it was very unfortunate that in the last four years of its regime, the present government has failed to announce and relief package for the trade and industry that is the backbone on the country. He said that all the trade and industrial bodies have finalised their arrangements for the sit-in and would make it a big success so that the people sitting at the helm of affairs could have an idea about the problems being faced by the industrial workers.
He said since the sit-in outside Lahore Chamber of Commerce was a unanimous decision of all the chambers in Punjab, therefore all businessmen support it fully and would definitely participate in a big way. The PIAF Chairman urged Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani to look into the issue of supply of gas that may create law and order situation in the province.
