The Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General, Liaqat Baloch, has said that President Zardari and Prime Minister Gilani were planning a clash of institutions to find political martyrdom after the total failure of their four year rule but they were fated to be punished for their crimes.
He said that besides corruption and bad governance, the government had been involved in the memo scandal, contempt of the Supreme Court in regard to the NRO decision, farewell to national criminal Pervez Musharraf, with guard of honour, humiliating release of CIA operative Raymond Davis, the killer of three innocent citizens, and total apathy on the issue of nation's daughter Dr Aafi Siddiqui.
Liaqat Baloch said that the ministers had lost their senses on seeing their impending ouster and were attacking the judiciary and the armed forces. He said, in the given situation, the best course was to announce fresh elections. He was of the view that if the opposition parties took a united stand on all issues in the larger national interest, the PPP, and its allies including the candidates of the MQM, the Awami National Party (ANP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) would lose their securities.
