Zardari, Kayani, Pasha, others asked to appear before commission

The judicial commission constituted to investigate the Memogate case on Wednesday served notices on President Asif Ali Zardari, Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif, DG ISI Lieutenant General Shuja Pasha and others, asking them to appear before the court on Monday.
The judicial body also sought a BlackBerry record of purported conversation between former ambassador to US Husain Haqqani and US Businessman Ijaz Mansoor soon after May 2 Abbottabad incident. Sources said Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) Maulvi Anwar ul-Haq wrote a letter to the Canadian Company, Research in Motion seeking record of purported conversation in the light of commission's directives.
It has been learnt that the probe commission also sent notices to the company's bureau's in Canada and Pakistan, seeking data for investigation. Some stakeholders including Husain Haqqani, the DG ISI and others did not appear before the commission in its first meeting held on Monday. The proceedings were adjourned till January 9.
Meanwhile, Judicial Commission gave advertisements in newspapers, requesting all concerned to be in attendance on Monday (January 9) in the Islamabad High Court during probe which is aimed ascertaining the origin, authenticity and purpose of allegedly creating, drafting and delivering the memorandum to the Chairman of the US Joint Chief of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen. The advertisements were issued on Tuesday.
