The Karachi Port handled 81,543 tonnes of cargo comprising 53,439 tonnes of import cargo and 28,104 tonnes of export cargo including 3,849 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 53,439 tonnes comprised of 27,439 tonnes of containerised cargo and 26,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 28,104 tonnes comprised of 14,948 tonnes of containerised cargo; 505 tonnes of general cargo; 12,651 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,478 tonnes of rice; 3,125 tonnes of cement and 8,048 tonnes of loose bulk cement. Four ships namely Caribbean Sea, Hyundai Freedom, Synnove Knutsen and MT Lahore with two container ships, one oil tanker and one crude oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. Four vessels viz President Folk, Wan Hai-602, Santa Belina and Synnove Knutsen with three container ship and one oil tanker respectively are currently at the berths.
Three ships namely President Folk, Al-Salam-II and UBC Cyprus with one container ships one HSD oil tanker and one cement carrier respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while two ships namely Wan Hai-602 and Santa Belina carrying two container ships are expected to sail on Thursday.
One vessel viz MT Karachi carrying crude oil tanker due to arrive on Wednesday, while four vessels viz Emirates Yangtze, Cao George, Cape Endurance and Berthea carrying two container ships and two naphtha ships respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
Two ships namely MV Sealand Washington and MV St. James Park sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while a container ship namely CV Al-Abdali is expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of seven vessels CV Sealand Washington, CV Al-Abdali, MV Hiba Al-Noor-B, MT Pearl Bulker, MV St. James Park, MV Hartati and MT Quetta are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, canola seeds, chemicals, edible oil and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.
As many as seven ships namely STX Knight, SC Guanzhou, Leader, Fair Spirit, Nicoline, Bellini and SC Shantuo with chemicals, furnace oil, containers and edible oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. A total number of three vessels viz CV Al-Abdali, CV Bellini and MT SC Guanzhou carrying containers and chemicals are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
