Three explosions kill 11 in Afghanistan

Published Updated

Three separate explosions killed 11 people and wounded dozens of others in Afghanistan's southern Kandahar province on Tuesday, officials said, the latest in a series of attacks in the volatile region. In the first attack, four children and a policeman were killed when a suicide bomber blew himself up near a police checkpoint in Kandahar city, said Zalmay Ayoubi, a spokesman for the Kandahar governor.
"The bomber was on a motorbike and detonated his explosives before reaching his target," he told Reuters. Later on Tuesday two separate explosions killed six and wounded 19 in the same city, Ayoubi added.
