The unabated spree of targeted killing on Tuesday remained continued in the city, claiming three lives including an activist of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in separate incidents in various parts of the metropolis. According to police and rescue sources, an activist of PPP was shot dead while a passer-by sustained injuries at Ilyas Goth near Teen Hatti, Liaquatabad in the limits of Super Market Police Station.
The incident took place near Teen Hatti where 28-year-old Majid Hussain Baloch son of Karim Baloch was targeted while sitting outside his house. Resultantly, Majid and a passer-by namely Elahi Bux, 24, son of Qasim received bullet injuries. Both victims were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where Majid succumbed to his injuries.
Later, the body was handed over to his heirs. No case was registered till filing of this report. SHO Mumtaz Shah said that one of the shooters also sustained bullet wounds but managed to flee with the assistance of other accomplices. He further said the victim, who was an active worker of PPP, was accused in some drug cases. He suspected that Lyari Gangsters especially Shahid Bikik might have involved in his murders as the victim had serious dispute with the gang and added that the victim, who was the father of four.
Meanwhile, president district central PPP Sohail Abidi while condemning the said incident, saying that he was an active worker of PPP and close friend of Bilal Sheikh. In another incident, two tortured and bullet-riddled bodies were found from Kashti Chowk Old Kumarwarha in the limits of Nippier Police Station. Police found the bodies, which were roped with electric pole near Kashti Chowk near Old Kumarwarha.
Police said the victims were later identified as 58-year-old Abdul Razzaq son of Ismail and Mohammad Akram, 38, son of Khan Mohammad, residents of sector 1-A North Karachi Khawaja Ajmir Nagri areas. They said both victims, who were rickshaw drivers by their profession and went missing since Monday morning, were found dead on early Tuesday. Police said the victims were relatives and hailed from Sialkot. A FIR (5/12) was lodged against unidentified men on the complaint of Razzaq's son Shahzad.
