A local leader of Awami National Party (ANP) was gunned down on Monday following which an intense wave of violence gripped Pak colony areas that left five persons wounded. According to police and eye-witnesses, 32-year-old Furqan Shah, son of Farman Shah, who was associated with district West Pak Colony Ward as vice-president, was targeted when he was standing near Hasrat Mohani Colony located in the limits of Pak Colony police station.
There are unconfirmed reports that Furqan was killed over the dispute of extortion but nobody confirmed the same. Meanwhile, SHO Abdul Moid said Furqan was the victim of targeted killing. Following the killing, violence engulfed Pak Colony and its other surrounding areas where miscreants took to streets and restored to indiscriminate firing that resulted in injuries to five persons including Hasnain Nasir, Ishaq, Akhtar Hussain, Zulfiqar and Basharat.
The injured were shifted to ASH for medical treatment. All commercial and social activities in the locality were suspended while heavy contingent of police and Rangers rushed to the spot to bring situation under control. Police said the victim, who was the resident of Hasrat Mohani Colony, was driver by profession. No case was registered till filing of this report.
