Holding rally on the Mall: LCCI President among 33 booked for violation of Section 144

Race Course police registered an FIR against President Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industries (LCCI) Irfan Qasir Sheikh, Senior Vice President Kashif Younas Mehr and 33 others for violating ban on holding protest rallies on the Mall Road imposed under Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
Earlier a meeting of the presidents of all chambers of commerce and industries of the province was held at LCCI to chalk out a joint strategy against suspension of Sui gas to the industries. They meeting demanded of the government to ensure equitable sharing of Sui gas among all the provinces instead of burdening the Punjab province only. They participants later led by LCCI President Irfan Qasir marched on the Mall upto the main gate of Governor House, Lahore. The Race Course police registered an FIR against the participants for holding protests rally on the Mall.
