Year 2011: eight women, 10 children among 168 killed by Indian forces
Indian occupation troops in their continued acts of state terrorism, martyred 168 innocent Kashmiris including eight women and 10 children during year 2011 in Held Kashmir.
According to the data released by the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service, Sunday, of those martyred, 10 were killed in custody. These killings rendered 34 children orphan and 13 women widow. Indian paramilitary troopers and policemen tortured or critically injured 877 civilians and destroyed 35 residential houses/structures while 878 persons were arrested during the house raids, crackdowns, firing and teargas shelling this year. The troops also subjected three Kashmiris to custodial disappearance and disgraced 34 women during the period.
In the month of December in 2011, 139 persons were tortured or critically injured, 25 were arrested and two women were molested by Indian paramilitary forces. Since 1989 till December 31, 2010, Indian troops martyred 93,712 innocent Kashmiris, including 6,989 killed in fake encounters or in custody. 119,752 persons were arrested on false charges, 22,762 women were widowed and 10,021 were disgraced or molested, 107,434 children were orphaned and 105,936 structures were either destroyed or damaged by the troops.
