Flood relief fund: CEO Zong presents Rs one million cheque to Prime Minister

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Zong, China's Mobile Company, Fan Yunjun called on Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani at the PM House on Thursday and presented him a Rs one million cheque for the Prime Minister's Flood Relief Fund.
The Prime Minister said that Pakistan and China enjoyed time-tested friendship and the year of 2011 was declared as the year of Pakistan-China friendship to celebrate the 60 years of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The Prime Minister recalled the visit of the Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and his visit to China, which were a clear manifestation of the depth of bilateral relations between the two countries. He appreciated the services of Zong, which had touched the figure of 13.2 million subscribers and had contributed an amount of Rs 26 billion in the national exchequer over a period of four years as taxes, besides providing job opportunities to thousands of youth in Pakistan.The Prime Minister directed the Secretary Ministry of Information Technology to help Zong in resolving difficulties in implementation of their extension projects.
The CEO Zong said that the mobile company has made a cumulative investment of $1.5 billion in four years and deposited Rs 26 billion as taxes during the same period. He said that the Zong was the largest telecom service provider world-wide, adding that the company was keen to invest in 3-G (Third Generation) technology. He said that the company wanted to extend its operations to new heights, which would provide job opportunities to the youth in various fields benefiting from its future projects.
