Government providing all possible assistance to industrialists: minister

Provincial Minister for Labour Haji Ehsaan-ud-Din Qureshi has said that industry is the backbone of our economy and provincial government is providing all possible assistance to the industrialists so that the industrial set up could be flourished. He directed the labour department's officers for regular inspection of factories and if new legislation is required, complete it at the earliest.
He said that inspection policy be formulated with the consultation of employers and other stakeholders. He also directed to ensure the implementation of labour laws, especially for timely payment of minimum wages, ie Rs 7000 per month by the employers.
He expressed these views while presided over a tripartite meeting to discuss the labour issues. The meeting was attended by Addl Secretary Labour, Director Labour, Vice Commissioner Social Security, high ranking officers of industries, social welfare, law and labour besides owners and representatives of employers.
The minister stressed on adopting measures to prevent and combat child labour as well as to protect bonded labour and to protect their family rights. He said that Punjab government is implementing various projects for providing modern education to labourer's children and residential facilities to them.
In order to establish peaceful society and economic prosperity, it is necessary to eliminate the child labour and provide modern education to the children of all segments of society so that the young generation should become the useful citizens of the society, he concluded.
