Terror bid foiled; suicide bomber among six alleged terrorists held

Islamabad Police on Wednesday foiled a terror bid and apprehended six suspected terrorists including a suicide bomber in Shehzad town police station jurisdiction. Inspector General Islamabad Bin Yameen, while addressing a press conference said that Criminal Investigation Department (CID) police arrested six-suspected terrorists including a suicide bomber named Waliullah during search operation in Shehzad town police station jurisdiction.
He alleged that militants wanted to attempt a big act of terrorism in the capital, as a huge cache of weapons and explosive were recovered from their possession. He said that the arrested terrorists involved in attacks on security forces in Swat. They were handed over to police for investigation, adding that mobile phones and Pakistani currency was also recovered from the suspected terrorists. He said that police faced another challenge during the operation, when people started protesting on Islamabad Expressway, but credit goes to CID police, which ensured arrest of the terrorists within two hours after getting the information.
Meanwhile, he appreciated the efforts of Islamabad police and said that no terror incident occurred during the current year owing to efficient policing. The major challenges before police were terrorism, car theft and dacoities, but efficient policing has helped us to overcome all the hurdles, the IGP maintained. He said that police have also recovered the vehicle of Dr Rakhshanda, which was snatched in an attempt to kidnap her son a few years ago. Her son was earlier recovered in police encounter and one of the kidnapper was killed, besides arrest of his other accomplices.
