Royal Palm Golf Club: NAB board okays probe into illegal lease of land

The Executive Board of NAB authorised investigation into mega case regarding illegal leasing of land to the Royal palm Golf Club in Lahore and also directed to ascertain the loss caused to the state in this case. The decision was taken in the Board meeting held on Wednesday, which was chaired by Adm Faish Bokhari (Retd).
The board was of the firm view that it is a case of willful misuse of land and the NAB would move the re-adjustment of agreement, which had been executed in favour of contractor. The meeting approved the filing of a reference against Muhammad Nawaz Qazi, former AVP of UBL, Quetta for misappropriation of money. However, in another case submitted by NAB, Balochistan for filing a reference, the Board directed the regional office to further probe the role of flour mill owners who are a party to the embezzlement of wheat from the government godown, Quetta.
The board authorised to hold the inquiry against the procurement of arms at exorbitant prices by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) police officials on the pretext to fight militancy. On the basis of evidence, inquiry against Malik Naveed former IG, Abdul Majid Khan Marwat former Addl. IG and Sadiq Kamal Khan former AIG (Tele) KPK has been approved.
In a case of plea bargain, wherein an amount of Rs one million was involved, the board decided to put a cut off financial limit for dealing with such cases at HQ. The case of a cut off financial limit would be raised in the forthcoming DG's conference to be held shortly. However, the case was referred back to the department for prosecuting the accused.
The case pertaining to the allotment of plots to seven (07) MPA's from Swat in violation of rules was referred back to NAB, KPK requesting the provincial government to seek regularisation as per the government's rules and procedure. The meeting approved the closure of two inquiries from sindh due to lack of evidence.-PR
