Like elsewhere, the Christian community here on Sunday celebrated Christmas with a renew pledge to work for strengthening and prosperity of Pakistan and promotion of interfaith harmony and peace in the society.
The main colourful function of Christmas was held at historical St. John Cathedral Church in Peshawar cantonment, where special prayer services were held. On this occasion, the church was artistically decorated with colourful lights and buntings. Christmas tree was also beautifully illuminated with lights at the church.
The speakers and bishop threw light on the philosophy of Christmas. They said Christmas called for peace, reconciliation and inter faith harmony for promotion of a tolerant society.
They said Christmas is being celebrated irrespective of one's religious affiliations and the forces of evil and darkness could not extinguish the light that Christ had lit in the world through his life and universal teachings. On this occasion, the bishop prayed for peace and prosperity of Pakistan.
