Oil pipeline explosion kills 11 in Colombia

Published Updated

An explosion blamed on fuel thieves killed 11 people and injured 70 others at a gasoline and diesel pipeline run by Colombia's state-owned Ecopetrol , the company said on Friday. The blast also destroyed 30 houses on the outskirts of Dosquebradas village in the western region of Risaralda, Ecopetrol said in a statement. Even though fuel thefts have decreased in the Andean country, there are still illegal groups that tap into pipelines to steal gasoline or diesel.
