Dr Fehmida Mirza, Speaker National Assembly has urged the need for enhancing interaction between the political hierarchies of Pakistan and Austria to building bridges of understanding and co-operation. She also stressed for activating parliamentary friendship groups in the National Assemblies of both the countries. Dr Fehmida Mirza was talking to Axel Wech, Ambassador of Austria who called on the Speaker here on Friday.
While talking to the Ambassador, the speaker said that Pakistan attaches immense importance to its cordial relations with Austria and wants to further strengthen them through parliamentary and economic co-operation. She said that frequent interaction between parliamentarians and business communities would further lead to betterment of relation between two states. She also stresses for persuading Austrian business community to invest in Pakistan and take advantage of immense business potential in Pakistan.
Axel Wech, Austrian Ambassador agreed with the Speaker and said that Austrian political hierarchy is also keen in strengthening bilateral relations between both the countries. He said that Austria acknowledges the sacrifices of Pakistan in fight against militancy. He said that during his tenure in Islamabad, he found Pakistanis peace loving, industrious and resilient. He said that frequent interaction between Pakistan and Austrian people would help remove negative perceptions against Pakistan. He also agreed for enhancing economic ties for mutual benefit of both the countries.
Later, Gonzalo Maria Quintero Saravia, Ambassador of Spain met Speaker National Assembly in Parliament House. Dr Fehmida Mirza while talking to the Ambassador said that Spain is an important nation in the European Union and a friend of Pakistan. She said that Pakistan attaches importance to its relations with Spain and wants to further solidify those relations through parliamentary and people-to-people exchanges. She said that interaction between parliamentarians would further pave way for creating better understanding. She also stressed for enhancing economic co-operation in diverse fields especially in the energy sector.
Gonzalo Maria Quintero Saravia, Ambassador of Spain reciprocating to the sentiments of Speaker said that his country also desires to further cement ties with Pakistan. He said that Spain and Pakistan had been trading partners and had been collaborating in various fields. He agreed that frequent interaction between business communities and parliamentarians would be beneficial for both the nations.-PR
