Police have assaulted a senior Kashmiri journalist and his wife without any reason in occupied Srinagar. The journalist, Mukhtar Ahmad and his wife were attacked by the men in uniform when cavalcade of the puppet Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah was passing from the airport road near the Shergarhi police station in the city, KMS reported.
Mukhtar, who works for CNN in the occupied territory, had stopped his vehicle to buy vegetables when suddenly a posse of the police led by an officer of the Shergarhi Police Station arrived at the scene and roughed him up without any reason.
"The police officer virtually went berserk after I told him that I am a journalist and that we had stopped the vehicle to buy vegetables. He started abusing me and punched me in my lower abdomen without any reason," Mukhtar said.
"He abused my wife too and then tried to bump me against my vehicle window. He then again punched me and ordered his men to take me inside the Shergarhi police station," added the journalist.
