The Karachi Port handled 33,758 tonnes of cargo comprising 11,821 tonnes of import cargo and 21,937 tonnes of export cargo including 1,714 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 11,821 tonnes comprised of 9,471 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5 tonne of general cargo; 2,345 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,364 tonnes of palm kernel expeller and 981 tonnes of seeds.
The total export cargo of 21,937 tonnes comprised of 6,906 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,285 tonnes of general cargo; 6,896 tonnes of bulk cargo: 6,144 tonnes of cement; 752 tonnes of loose bulk cement and 1,850 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
Six ships namely Jakarta Express, APL Brisbane, Salis, Alliance St. Louis, UBC Cyprus and Pacific Future with three container ships, one general cargo ship, one cement carrier and one talcum powder carrier respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Four vessels viz Annina Schulte, YM Fuzhou, Mandarin Trader and Oriental Rose with two container ships, one bulk cargo ship and one oil tanker respectively are currently at the berths. One ship namely Oriental Rose with oil tanker sailed out to sea on Friday, while two ships namely Annina Schulte and Nagogini carrying containers and chemicals respectively are expected to sail on Saturday.
Five vessels viz Kota Akbar, Wan Hai-606, Leonor, Nagogini and MT Karachi with two container ships, one chemicals carrier, one steel coils carrier and one crude oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Friday, while four vessels viz YM Asia, Abtin-1, Pacific Energy and Grand Duke carrying two container ships, one LSFO tanker and one vehicles carrier respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
Three ships namely CV Mare Attanticum, CV Nora Maersk and MT SC Stealth sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while two container ships namely CV Safmarine Nagami and CV CMA CGM Wagner are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of nine vessels CV Safmarine Nagami, CV CMA CGM Wagner, CV Nora Maersk, CV Mare Attanticum, MV Afamia, MV Paiute, MT SC Stealth, MT Synnove Knutsen and MT Kition are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, canola seeds, phosphoric acid, palm oil and diesel oil respectively during last 24 hours.
As many as three ships namely MSC Catania, Al-Salam-II and Bunga Kantan Tiga with containers, diesel oil and palm oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. A total number of two vessels viz CV MSC Catania and Bunga Kantan Tiga with containers and palm oil respectively are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Friday. Two ships namely MT Quetta and MT Bow Jubail carrying furnace oil and phosphoric acid are due to arrive on Saturday. As many as five vessels viz CV Maersk Kolkata, CV Hanjin Elizabeth, CV CMA CGM Chopan, CV Izumo and MT Alaed carrying containers and project cargo respectively are also expected to arrive at Port Qasim.
