Petition for disqualification of 229 civil judges: LHC allows petitioner to make Registrar as party

The Lahore High Court on Friday allowed a lawyer to make the Court's registrar as party in his petition seeking disqualification of 229 civil judges-cum-judicial magistrates, who failed to pass departmental examination. During last hearing the court had asked the petitioner, Chaudhry Muhammad Fakhir Advocate, to remove the name of the registrar from the list of respondents but on Friday allowed to make him party and adjourned the proceedings to January 19 next.
The petitioner stated that 288 civil judges-cum-judicial magistrates appeared in departmental examination for regularisation of their services but only 59 passed the exams. He pointed out that 22 among the successful judges were given grace marks and majority of the unsuccessful judges were failed in all six subjects. The petitioner contended that the situation was very much disappointing for the district judiciary. He said how these judges would dispense justice among the masses when they miserably failed to pass the departmental examinations. He, therefore, prayed to the court to declare them disqualified for the posts and immediately barred them from performing judicial work till the final decision.
