Chairperson, Human Development Foundation (HDF), Dr Khadija Haq has said that economy would not take a positive turn unless and until there is political stability in the country. HDF chairperson was talking to LCCI President, Irfan Qaiser Sheikh here at LCCI on Friday.
He said that the politicians should have understanding of ground realities and should mend their ways in the larger interests of the country. She said that political instability has pushed the country to the wall and it would take years and years to put the economy back on rails.
On MFN status to India, she said that Pakistan would be the ultimate beneficiary because Pakistani merchandise is simply the best when it comes to quality. She said present economic indicators, though are not very encouraging, but enough to make the point that the business community has the ability to perform even if the country is passing through a very challenging times.
Speaking on the occasion, LCCI president, Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said the chamber is making all out efforts to supplement all government efforts aimed at economic revival of the country. He said that the LCCI understands well that MFN to India is per the condition of the WTO but the status would hardly be doing any service to the business community unless and until the core problems and NTBs issue between the two countries is resolved. He also briefed HDF chairperson that the chamber is giving special focus to promote trade and economic relations with Saarc countries.
