Alleged irregularities: probe against ex-officials of Site Limited initiated

The Chief Minster's Inspection Team (CMIT), has initiated an inquiry against the former officials of Site Limited who were allegedly involved in irregularities of millions of rupees in various development works, it is learnt on Thursday. The probe has been launched on the directives of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, sources said.
The Chief Minister had received many complaints both from the government and political circles against the former officials of Site Ltd for their alleged involvement in massive corruption, source said adding that the Chief Minister took the complaints seriously and ordered the CMIT to probe the issue and submit report at the earliest.
Following the directives, an official of the Chief Minster's Secretariat wrote a letter to the CMIT Chairman in which it was stated that the former officials of SITE Limited were involved in irregularities under the head of development works. The letter claimed that a cheque of Rs 33,289,550 was issued to a contractor by the ex officials but the work was not completed.
The letter stated that the officials of Site Limited deposited heavy amount of Rs 100 million in new banks instead of National Bank of Pakistan and others. Sources further informed that CMIT Chairman Abdul Subhan Memon had deputed Jinsar Ali Shah, Director General (Technical) CMIT, to probe the issue.
It may be noted here that Provincial Minster for Industries Abdul Rauf Siddiqui had stated in media that the ex officials of Site Ltd were involved in massive corruption so that strict audit would be carried out to check the previous record of the organisation.
