The Karachi Port handled 70,725 tonnes of cargo comprising 29,106 tonnes of import cargo and 41,619 tonnes of export cargo including 3,521 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 29,106 tonnes comprised of 21,355 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,038 tonne of general cargo; 314 tonnes of chickpeas and 6,399 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 41,619 tonnes comprised of 27,838 tonnes of containerised cargo; 607 tonnes of general cargo; 13,174 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,351 tonnes of rice; 3,825 tonnes of cement; 5,282 tonnes of loose bulk cement and 2,750 tonnes of talcum powder.
Four ships namely Al-Mirqab, Lindavia, Wan Hai-603 and Analips Lady carrying three container ships and one oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. Five vessels viz Hyundai Colombo, Lt Trieste, APL Japan, Golden Dynasty and Prestige New York with three container ships, one oil tanker and one vehicles carrier respectively are currently at the berths.
Three ships namely Marcampania, Maistros and Fu Yuan Shan with three oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday. A cement carrier UBC Cyprus expected to sail on Wednesday, while one ship namely Pacific Future is expected to sail on Thursday. One container vessel viz Jakarta Express due to arrive on Wednesday, while five vessels viz Alliance St. Louis, Oriental Rose, Annina Schulte, YM Fuzhou and Emirates Ganges carrying one vehicles carrier, one ethanol ship and three container ships respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
Five ships namely MV Golden Ambrosia, MV SC Dalian, Pantagonia Gas, MT Al-Noor-II and Sealand Michigan sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while another ship namely MV Cape Tampa is expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of eight vessels CV Sealand Michigan, CV Al-Noof, MV Fisher-K, MV Ionian Sea, MV Golden Ambrosia, MV Cape Tampa, Pantagonia Gas and MV SC Dalian are currently occupying berths to load/offload cement, rice, chemicals, diesel oil and edible oil respectively during last 24 hours.
As many as nine ships namely Nara Attanticum, Nora Maersk, ACX Rafflesia, Synnove Knutsen, Emex S, Afamia, Paiute, SC Stealth, and Al-Soor-II with scheduled to load/offload containers, chemicals, rice, canola grain, edible oil and diesel oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
A total number of five vessels viz CV ACX Rafflesia, CV Nara Attanticum, MV Emex S, MT SC Stealth and MT Al-Soor-II carrying containers, chemicals, edible oil and diesel oil respectively are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal, and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
