Taiwan stocks up

Published Updated

Taiwan stocks rose 0.38 percent on Wednesday, led by gains in HTC after the smartphone maker said a US court had postponed again a final ruling on its lawsuit against Apple Inc. The main TAIEX index ended 26.26 points higher at 6,922.57 in thin volume. Investor sentiment remained cautious after the Federal Reserve failed to take new steps to stimulate growth and offset the impact of Europe's still-unresolved debt crisis.
Topping the most active list by turnover was HTC, the world's No 4 smartphone maker, up 4.69 percent. Catcher Technology, a casing supplier for HTC phones, advanced 5 percent. Machinery and electrics and biotech were among the biggest winning sectors, both adding more than 1 percent.
