British police have charged two men over a 1 million pound (1.6 million) email scam targeting students in the UK Scotland Yard says Amos Mwangi, 25, and Damola Olatunji, 26, are charged with conspiracy to defraud and that Olatunji is also charged with possession of an article for use in fraud.
Police say the men were part of a scam that targeted students receiving government loans, luring them into revealing their bank account details which were then used to withdraw amounts of between 1,000 and 5,000 pounds at a time. Both men appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court on Saturday and were remanded in custody. Police said five other people have been arrested and bailed in the email publishing investigation.
