Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA) has completed the survey of two corridors of Karachi for Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS), including the corridors from Surjani Town to Tower and from Safoora Goth to Regal Chowk via Preedy Street, it was learnt.
A JICA delegation called on Administrator Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Muhammad Hussain Syed in his office, here on Saturday. The administrator was given briefing on the mass transit system especially the survey conducted for implementation of BRTS in Karachi.
He was informed that besides these two corridors survey of more corridors in the city was also underway speedily and would be completed by June 2012. The JICA experts stressed the need for bringing improvement in the traffic management system on bus rapid transit corridors and removal of encroachments and illegal vehicle parking areas alongside these tracks.
